Machine Shop Trade Secrets - written by James A. Harvey is an excellent book. It is not aimed at the novist
machinist, but more at the machinist who is familiar with the operation of their
machines, and is now looking to get the most out them. That said it is still
facinating reading for the beginner. I have read the book a couple of times now. Each time I find new useful and interesting techniques. I make a point to scan through the book whenever I am about to start a new project. There is usually something in it that I find which speeds up what I'm doing, or solves a problem I'm have at the time. The book has over 200 black and white pictures, clearly explaining what is being talked about. In summary, this book makes a fantastic addition to a machine shop libary and is usually the first book I reach for when I'm not sure about something, or have a problem to solve.. |
